4 large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup hot water or hot coffee (coffee enhances the flavor)
1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
For the Chocolate Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk (adjust for consistency)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
