3. Sautéed Cabbage
Ingredients:
- 1 small head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 carrots, julienned (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp butter or oil
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves (optional)
Instructions:
- Sauté Vegetables:
Heat the butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until softened. - Add Cabbage and Carrots:
Stir in the sliced cabbage and carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to wilt. - Season and Simmer:
Add the chicken broth, allspice, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Cover the skillet and let the cabbage simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until tender but still vibrant in color. - Finish:
Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves (if using) before serving.
