Step 2: Poke Holes in the Cake
- Create Evenly Spaced Holes: Using the handle of a wooden spoon (or another similarly shaped tool), gently poke holes all over the surface of the cake. Space the holes about 1–2 inches apart to ensure the pudding mixture can seep into every part of the cake. Be careful not to poke all the way through to the bottom of the pan—you want the pudding to soak into the cake, not pool underneath it.
Step 3: Prepare the Vanilla Pudding Layer
- Mix the Pudding: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the 2 boxes of instant vanilla pudding mix with 4 cups of cold milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2–3 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth. The pudding should have a custard-like consistency.
