After one taste, my neighbor hurried over to ask what the special ingredient was.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chopped onion. Mix until well combined.
Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to a large skillet. Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the meatballs.
Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.
Variations & Tips

For a lighter version, you can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. If you have picky eaters, consider serving the sauce on the side so they can dip the meatballs as they like. You can also add some pineapple chunks to the sauce for a fruity twist. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and soy sauce.
