Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) .
Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper. Set aside.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour , baking powder , and salt . Set aside.
Step 3: Cream the Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
Add the eggs , one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 4: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest into the butter mixture.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk (start and end with the dry ingredients). Mix gently until smooth and fully combined.
Step 5: Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops with a spatula.
Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 25β30 minutes , or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth and creamy. Adjust the amount of lemon juice to reach your desired consistency.
